The Means of Giving

Did you know that there are more than ten different ways you can contribute financially to the Archdiocese of Singapore today?

Less than a year ago, the main way Catholics could make a financial contribution to the Archdiocese of Singapore was through cash dropped into collection bags at their parishes. A percentage of these collections (historically a fixed 15% but in 2016 changed to a tiered system of 4% to 28% depending on each parish’s income) goes to the archdiocese while the rest is retained by the parishes. Unfortunately, this funding model has proven to be insufficient to meet the growing needs of the archdiocese. With the recent expansion of the Catholic Foundation’s role as the fundraising arm of the archdiocese, several more avenues of giving to the Catholic Church have been made possible. Today, with the Catholic Foundation’s Giving in Faith & Thankfulness (GIFT) regular giving campaign, supporting the archdiocese can be done both offline and online, with the ability to track and monitor your contributions through the Foundation’s online portal. We set out below how you can contribute, whether on an ad-hoc or monthly basis, according to your own needs and convenience.

Online

  • GIRO
    • Visit gift.catholicfoundation.sg/give, select “Monthly Gift”, enter your details and contribution amount as prompted, and select “GIRO” at the bottom of the screen. After clicking ‘submit’, a pre-filled GIRO form will be generated for you to download and print. Please sign your prefilled GIRO form and mail the signed form to the Catholic Foundation in an envelope.
  • Credit/Debit Card
    • Visit gift.catholicfoundation.sg/give, choose either “Monthly Gift” or “One-Time Gift”, enter your details and contribution amount as prompted, and
select “Credit and Debit Card” at the bottom of the screen. After clicking ‘submit’, you will be redirected to a payment gateway. For those choosing to
give on a fixed monthly basis, this method has been found to be the most convenient.
  • Internet Banking
    • If you are a DBS/POSB account holder, you can contribute through a service called “Bill Payment” on your iBanking portal. Sign in to the DBS/POSB iBanking portal, click “Pay Bills” and find Catholic Foundation under “Billing Organisation not in my pre-arranged list”. After that, simply enter details in
required fields and amount to be contributed.
  • eNETS
    • If you are a Citibank, DBS/POSB, OCBC, StanChart or UOB account holder, you can contribute via a direct bank debit. Visit gift.catholicfoundation.sg/give, select “One-Time Gift”, enter your details and contribution amount as prompted, and select “eNETS” at the bottom of the
screen. After clicking ‘submit’, you will be redirected to the eNETS payment gateway.

Appeal Envelopes

  • GIRO
    • GIRO application forms can be found folded in GIFT appeal envelopes, or on the back page of the A4-sized GIFT brochure (please cut it out). Fill all required fields on the form, sign it, and return the signed form to the Catholic Foundation.
  • Credit/Debit Card
    • Contributing through your credit or debit card, (whether on a monthly or one-time basis), can be done through the GIFT appeal envelopes. Simply fill in the required information as prompted, seal it and return the envelope to the Catholic Foundation.
  • Cash
    • Place your cash in an envelope addressed to the Catholic Foundation, seal it, and drop it off at your parish or the Catholic Centre. For your convenience,
please use a GIFT envelope, where the address and required information to acknowledge your contribution is set out.
  • Cheque
    • Make out a crossed cheque payable to “Catholic Foundation” and post it to us in an envelope. For your convenience, please use a GIFT appeal envelope
which is returnable by Business Reply Service (BRS) and contains the required information to acknowledge your contribution.

These are returned to the Catholic Foundation via:

  • Parish Collections
    • A second collection is conducted in parishes on the third weekend of each month for contributions to the Catholic Foundation. Some parishes also have collection boxes to receive Catholic Foundation envelopes.
  • Catholic Centre Boxes
    • Catholic Foundation collection boxes can be found at the Catholic Centre on
      Level 1 – Crossings Café,
      Level 5 – Catholic Foundation.
