GIFT 2025: Message from Our Archbishop
Walking Together in Hope:
One Body in Christ

My dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
Advent is a favourite season for many – a time of anticipation leading to celebration and joy. But what are we truly awaiting? As Christians, we look beyond the lights and festivities. We await the coming of Christ – God’s greatest gift to mankind.
Advent is a season of hope, and Christian hope is not mere wishful thinking; it is rooted in Christ, the source of everlasting love, joy, and peace. Such hope strengthens our faith, inspires charity, and calls us to bring Christ into the daily realities of people’s lives.
Through the Catholic Foundation’s Giving in Faith & Thankfulness (GIFT) initiative, our Archdiocese carries out vital works of evangelisation and formation: proclaiming the Good News, nurturing faith, caring for our senior priests, developing leaders, and building faith-filled communities. Your generosity helps bring the light of Christ to all.

"Such hope strengthens our faith, inspires charity, and calls us to bring Christ into the daily realities of people’s lives."

Looking ahead, we also need to fund parish lease renewals and develop Phase 2 of the Catholic Hub, which will include a residence for senior clergy and religious.
In this Jubilee Year of Hope, we are called to proclaim the Prince of Peace in a world longing for humility, self-giving love, and mercy.
Saint Paul reminds us: “For you know the generous act of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that by his poverty you might become rich… For if the eagerness is there, the gift is acceptable according to what one has – not according to what one does not have” (2 Corinthians 8:9-12).
Indeed, you have been generous in building the Church of tomorrow – for our children and their children. For this, we are deeply grateful and look forward to your continued support and generosity.
Let us strengthen our faith, receive God’s mercy, and share His compassion with a world longing for peace and love. I invite your continued generosity in prayer and giving. May your GIFT through the Catholic Foundation – whether in cash, pledge, or legacy giving – be a grateful sharing of God’s grace that offers Christian hope
to all.
May God, who cannot be outdone in generosity, “provide you with every blessing in abundance, so that by always having enough of everything, you may share abundantly in every good work. He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness. You will be enriched in every way for your great generosity, which will produce thanksgiving to God through us” (2 Corinthians 9:8-11).
