The GIFT (Giving in Faith and Thankfulness) campaign was launched in Advent 2016 to support the Archdiocese of Singapore’s vision of a more vibrant, evangelising and missionary Church. This report provides updates on its progress for the third quarter of 2023.
Thanks to the generous support from the Catholic community, GIFT contributions in the third quarter of 2023 (Jul – Sept) increased by about $0.3 million to $2.83 million from the previous quarter.
This was largely due to an increase in contributions through parishes and other contributions received for Catholic Foundation Dinner and for the Catholic Hub.
We are heartened by your generosity in supporting the work of the Archdiocesan organisations and key initiatives aligned to the pastoral vision of building a more vibrant, evangelising and missionary Church.
Regular giving remains the most sustainable way of supporting the needs of the Archdiocese.
As contributions from pledges declined in the last quarter, we appeal to you to rally behind the Archdiocese and sign up for a monthly pledge today. Your continued support will ensure that the Church in Singapore can carry out its mission of bringing Christ to others.
We are thankful to God for all of our contributors, and we continue to ask for your prayers as we work as one to build the Church today for tomorrow.
The Catholic Hub
The future Catholic Hub will be a spiritual oasis in Singapore providing the environment, space and facilities for parishes, ministries, organisations and groups to conduct a wide range of activities. Once built, it will bring about greater communion in mission, expanding efforts to share the message of God’s love with more people.
The Catholic Hub remains the key focus of fundraising efforts of the Foundation. Click here to learn more about how the Catholic Hub will provide for our Church and how you can do your part to make it a reality.
Activities Update
The Archdiocesan Commission for Catholic Schools marked Catholic Education Sunday (CES) over the weekend of 9 – 10 September. Proudly dressed in their school uniforms, students from 34 Catholic schools served at 50 Masses across 28 parishes. CES brings schools, families of the students and parishes together to revitalise the Church’s mission to form students holistically, enabling them to live out their lives in service to God and to others.
The Catholic Preschool Education (Singapore) commemorated various events: Racial Harmony Day, National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival. Through Racial Harmony Day, the children experienced the joy of better understanding each other’s way of life. Celebrating National Day and Mid-Autumn festival allowed the children to understand the importance of living together in harmony as a nation and as one family of God.
The Office for the New Evangelisation held the Catholyst Conference on 14 and 15 July. It brought together 140 participants who were empowered to be effective evangelisers and embrace the urgency of proclaiming Jesus, in all areas of their lives. The conference highlighted the call to holiness and the significance of self-care and rest as holy acts to cultivate one’s wholeness. It also challenged participants to integrate prayer into daily activities.
